Are you feeling alone, stuck and empty in your struggle with infertility? Do you feel as if infertility is only a series of “No’s:” a No from God, a No to your hopes and dreams, and even a No from your own body?

We’ve been there. But we know that God is with us, that He wants us to be free and that He has chosen us for an abundant life:

See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the wilderness I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers. Isaiah 43:19

The  Archdiocese of New Orleans and Springs in the Desert invite all women, wherever you may be in the wilderness of infertility, for an overnight retreat where you can pray, rest and share your heart with other women who understand this unique and painful suffering. Through a series of talks, group sharing and opportunities for prayer and fostering friendships, we will:

·       Uncover some of the negative thoughts and false perceptions about ourselves, the purpose of our marriages, and our relationship with God that so often accompany the experience of infertility.

·       Acknowledge the often unspoken grief associated with infertility and the lies we might believe that our infertility is a punishment.

·       Explore how we can begin to find freedom from the isolation, shame and complex tangle of emotions that come with this cross

·       Discover the truth of our identity as beloved daughters of God, and that it is possible to learn to say Yes to who we are here and now, broken and yet beloved of Him who is, even now, doing something new in us.

The retreat is sponsored by the Archdiocese of New Orleans Office of Marriage and Family Life. Although the cost for the retreat is approximately $450 per person, your ability to pay should not be an obstacle to attending. A fee is not required to attend, but if you are able to help defray the costs for the retreat, an opportunity to make donation by credit/debit card is available on the registration form and would be greatly appreciated.  An opportunity to offer a donation by cash or check will also be made available at the retreat.

Retreatants should arrive at the ANO Retreat Center (5500 St. Mary Street, Metairie, LA 70003) between 4:00 and 6:00 pm on Friday December 3rd and will end Sunday evening approximately 7:30pm on Saturday. The retreat includes dinner on Friday and three meals on Saturday. Retreatants are encouraged to invite their husbands or a close friend to attend dinner and a final presentation on Saturday evening beginning at 5:30pm.

COVID-19 Precautions: In accord with State of Louisiana requirements and recommendations, attendees will be asked to wear a mask or face covering while in the public indoor areas of the Retreat Center and to maintain appropriate social distancing.  While vaccinations are encouraged, retreatants should not expect that vaccinations are appropriate for all who may be in attendance.  For those who are not vaccinated, please consider having a COVID-19 test in the days leading up to the retreat and acting accordingly.   Anyone, vaccinated or not, who may not be feeling well in the days before the retreat are asked to do the same.   Donations will be refunded upon request to anyone who chooses not to attend due to health and safety concerns.   If you register and decide not to attend, please e-mail Chris O’Neill at coneill@arch-no.org as soon as possible so that your place may be offered to someone on the waitlist.

This is a retreat for women experiencing infertility, some of whom may be actively responding to delicate medial issues.  No one understands the difficulty of their situation better than those who have a similar experience.  We rely on the prudence of each to act with personal responsibility for their own health as well as the safety of others, and ask for understanding for the unique challenges and personal decisions of others.  Thank you for your kind consideration.
